RICK FAUGNO
TEACHING
I like to think of my approach to teaching as like being a guide through a challenging landscape; especially when it comes to a discipline like the performing arts.
Having been a child performer and a lifelong student of the arts, I can identify with the daunting task of being at the beginning of the odyssey. Much like climbing a tall mountain, crossing a vast ocean or surviving a hot desert, helping students understand how to navigate through difficult situations and figure out how to reach their destination is what makes teaching so rewarding.
Every time I take on a new student in voice, dance or acting, I recognize the epic voyage that they’ve undertaken and I try to lead them in the right direction, while understanding where they’re coming from as students. Every student and every voyage is different, which makes the challenge all the more interesting.
Whether I’m teaching adults or teenagers, my approach is always the same: allow the student to communicate where they’re trying to go and figure out the best way to get them there.
