INTERLOCHEN SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (Co-Choreographer)
"For me, the art of choreography is a form of self-expression rivaled only by the art of performing.
When working as a choreographer, I’m able to utilize the skills of other performers in order to interpret my vision for telling a story. Rather than being the clay that gets molded, like when I’m performing, I get to switch hats and become the one who does the molding itself. I love this aspect of creating. It allows me to step outside myself and look at things through a bigger lens.
Whether I’m choreographing for students or professional performers, the level of fulfillment is the same. Knowing that people are relying on your vision to help them get to where they need to go is a journey I very much enjoy being a part of.
Having had the opportunity to choreograph both at the student and at the professional levels has allowed me the chance to approach my choreography through the eyes of a student and as a working actor. Tailoring to the needs of each person is a crucial part of the creative process, no matter who is pursuing it. I love taking on this role no matter what the circumstances might be.
